Consumers are already picking post-COVID winners—housing, autos, groceries and food shops—and the losers—airlines, hotels, restaurants, movies and live events. An inexpensive and accessible window on consumer spending is providing the clues. Internet searches now point to major shifts in consumer spending this year, creating likely winners and losers among providers of household goods and services, among those that fund consumers and among those that fund businesses that rely on consumers.
